), a leading provider of network solutions for consumers, commercial organizations and service providers, today announced the appointment of Gary T. DiCamillo to its board of directors, effective immediately.

DiCamillo is chairman and chief executive officer of the Polaroid Corporation. He joined the company in October 1995, and is reinvigorating this 60+ year-old global imaging business, with approximately $2 billion in sales and 9,000 employees worldwide.

"Gary DiCamillo brings a wealth of consumer experience to 3Com and will play a key role as 3Com continues executing its vision of radically simple networking solutions for the digital home," said Eric Benhamou, 3Com chairman and chief executive officer. "His expertise and proven track record in the consumer space will be a tremendous asset to 3Com."

Prior to joining Polaroid, DiCamillo served as group vice president of the Black & Decker Corporation and president of Worldwide Power Tools and Accessories. He joined Black & Decker in 1986 as vice president of marketing for its U.S. Power Tools Division and in 1988 was named president of the division.
