The Design Automation Conference (DAC See D/A converter and discretionary access control.

), the electronic design industry's leading event, today announced this year's technical program will include new hands-on tutorials. In these tutorial sessions, companies that are involved in varying parts of the embedded systems design flow--from EDA software vendors and intellectual property (IP) providers to embedded systems development companies--will present in-depth, interactive tutorial sessions that allow participants to work with the tools hands-on to solve specific design challenges. The 39th annual conference will be held June 10-14, 2002, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is a collection of buildings in New Orleans, Louisiana. The lower end of building one is located 500 m (1640 feet) upriver from Canal Street on the banks of the Mississippi River. Named after former mayor of New Orleans Ernest N. , New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded .

"DAC is excited to provide attendees with a new and innovative approach for learning about embedded systems design tools and methodologies at this year's conference," said Bryan Ackland, 39th DAC general chair and vice president of communications systems technology for Agere Systems Agere Systems Inc. was an integrated circuit components company based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, in the United States. Effective April 2, 2007, it was merged into LSI Corporation. . "The addition of the hands-on tutorials underscores DAC's commitment to providing a strong technical program that encompasses all aspects of chip design, including embedded systems."

Interactive Learning Focuses on "Verifying Embedded Systems"

The hands-on tutorials address a wide breadth of embedded systems design challenges, from system verification and assertion-based validation, to hardware/software integration and virtual prototyping. This year's focus is on "Verifying Embedded Systems." Wind River and ARM, as well as more than a dozen DAC exhibitors, are participating in the tutorials as part of technical program's continuing focus on the convergence of EDA and embedded systems design issues.

Each tutorial focuses on a specific design challenge and the presenting companies provide the tools, as well as education on the recommended tool flow and methodology, to solve it. To do this, attendees are encouraged to work with the tools, hands-on and in real time.

The three-hour tutorials are limited to the first 30 students enrolled and a student-to-workstation ratio of 2:1. The cost is $40 per tutorial. The sessions take place Monday through Thursday, June 10 - 13, and will cover the following topics:

-- Developing Bus-Functional Models for Embedded Inserted into. See embedded system.  ATM Switch Verification

SynaptiCAD, Inc. and Synopsys, Inc.

-- Creating and Using a Virtual Prototype for Embedded System Any electronic system that uses a CPU chip, but that is not a general-purpose workstation, desktop or laptop computer. Such systems generally use microprocessors, or they may use custom-designed chips or both.  Verification

AXYS Design Automation, Denali Software Denali Software, Inc. is an American software company, based in Palo Alto, California. The company produces electronic design automation (EDA) software and intellectual property (IP) design cores for memory and other standard interfaces. , Mentor Graphics Mentor Graphics, Inc (NASDAQ: MENT) is a US-based multinational corporation dealing in electronic design automation (EDA) for electrical engineering and electronics, as of 2004, ranked third in the EDA industry it helped create.  and Verisity
