Jerry Rightmer, CTO of 360Commerce, a leading provider of integrated commerce software, will present the what, how and why for one of ARTS' newest IXRetail Schemas, the POSlog, at the upcoming Retail Standards Summit to be held in London on Oct. 1. In his presentation, Rightmer will cite the lessons learned from the first-ever implementation of this standard at 360Commerce customer KB Toys, and explain how this standard can help other retailers greatly reduce POS integration costs and more easily enhance or extend purchased systems.

In a Technology Track presentation at the Retail Standards Summit, Rightmer will talk about his work as a member of the ARTS board, which develops standards that help eliminate technology barriers for retailers. Data captured at the point of service, including sales, returns, deliveries and customer information, is the most critical data for a retailer. It drives sales, forecasting, inventory, and many more mission-critical enterprise activities. The newest IXRetail standard, the XML schema POSlog (standard TLOG), was created to capture this information and reduce the time and cost of integrating POS systems with related applications, such as ERP, inventory, loss prevention, and CRM. By creating a standard for POSlog information, ARTS has made the need for special integration software obsolete. And by implementing the POSlog standard, retailers can also more easily enhance or extend purchased systems.

Rightmer directs 360Commerce's implementation of world-class software engineering and manufacturing techniques. He also often addresses technical issues for various trade and high-tech media, as well as speaking at industry events. As a member of the ARTS board and the chair of the process subcommittee of the IXRetail committee, Rightmer is an active participant in the organization that is defining the emerging standard for intercommunication between retail applications.
