integration, at the upcoming Retail Standards Summit to be held in London on October 7, 2004. In the opening Technology Track presentation at the Retail Standards Summit, Rightmer will talk about his work as a member of the ARTS board, which develops standards that help eliminate technology barriers for retailers. Rightmer, an active participant in ARTS for five years and a strong proponent of standards, believes in designing applications and their underlying architecture for simplicity and reuse. By adhering to standards, application providers are able to create an international, barrier-free technology environment for retailers.

Rightmer will focus his discussion on IXRetail and how it reduces costs for retailers. The presentation will include an explanation of various IXRetail implementation models and how they are used. IXRetail standards will be illustrated through real-life integration examples in retail areas such as customer, POSlog, price, and time card.

"My goal for the Retail Technology Summit is to update European retailers and vendors on the scope, use, and benefits of using the ARTS standards to streamline application integration," explained Rightmer. "Retail standards provide the greatest value when adopted and supported by the larger international retail community."

Rightmer directs 360Commerce's implementation of world-class software engineering and manufacturing techniques. He also often consults on technical issues for various trade and high-tech media, as well as speaking at industry events. As a member of the ARTS board and the chair of the process subcommittee of the IXRetail committee, Rightmer is an active participant in the organization that is defining the emerging standard for intercommunication in·ter·com·mu·ni·cate
