347,000 LAWSUIT NOTICES MAILED.

Byline: David R. Baker Daily News Staff Writer

Lawyers waging a class-action lawsuit against Boeing over toxic contamination by its Rocketdyne division have mailed notices to more than 347,000 homes, notifying residents they may be covered by the suit.

The 10-page fliers, mailed Friday, target residents of the western San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
and eastern Ventura County, areas the lawyers argue could have been tainted by toxins from Rocketdyne facilities.

``It gives people an opportunity to monitor the case and make inquiries,'' said Tina Nieves, an attorney working on the suit.

She said her office's phone was swamped with calls as early as Monday morning, as Valley residents found the fliers in their mailboxes.

A Boeing spokesman would not comment directly on the suit, except to say the company considers it groundless.

``We continue to be firm in our belief that the lawsuit is without merit, and evidence will show that there's no off-site contamination,'' spokesman Dan Beck said.
