34% rise in Scot deaths from drugs; HEALTH.THE number of drug-related deaths in Scotland has soared by 34% in a year. The total had been boosted by the record number of deaths in Scotland - there was a slight fall in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The highest drug-related death rate was in Brighton & Hove Hove (hōv), city (1991 pop. 65,587), East Sussex, SE England. It is a modern residential seaside resort. , with 20.7 deaths per 100,000 people. Dumbarton had 15.4 per 100,000. Study leader Prof Hamid Ghodse urged "continued vigilance". |
