LANCASTER - Films from England, France, Israel and the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  communication arts professor.

``This is the one weekend they are all imported,'' Traina said.

The films will be shown on the largest screen at the Movies 1-4 theater, 43821 15th St. W.

The festival started with a few films in 1997 and has increased to 33 short and feature-length films this year. Traina said he has promoted the festival to filmmakers.

``We just had a huge increase in submissions,'' he said, ``For every film we took, we turned about 40 away.''

Filmmakers will talk with the audience in question-and-answer sessions after the screenings.

The festival will start at 7 p.m. Friday, and there will be an opening- night reception at 10 p.m. at Brakke's Inn, 45755 Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling , Lancaster, where one of the featured films was shot.

The reception Saturday will be at the Desert Inn, 44219 Sierra Highway.

Screenings will run from 12:30 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and start again at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The festival will end with a showing of short films starting at 7 p.m. Sunday.

One of the festival highlights will be the United States premiere at 3:30 p.m. Sunday of ``Final Cut,'' starring Jude Law, Ray Winstone and Sadie Frost Sadie Frost (born 19 June 1965 in London)[1] is an English fashion designer and former actress. She is probably best known for her six-year marriage to Jude Law and her friendship with Kate Moss, which have made her a staple of the British tabloids. .

``Final Cut,'' by English filmmakers Dominic Anciano Dominic Anciano is a British actor, writer, producer and director. His first notable work was Philip Ridley's The Reflecting Skin where he was one of four production staff including Jim Beach, Dian Roberts and Ray Burdis.  and Ray Burdis, relates a story of 11 friends at a wake for a loved one who, they learn, secretly made a film of their lives.

Among other films that will be shown are ``Zoe,'' a feature shot in the Antelope Valley by Deborah Attoinese; ``Odessa or Bust or collapse from the effort; - used in phrases expressing determination to do something; as, Oregon or bust, meaning "We will get to Oregon or die trying." s>

``Rejected'' by Don Hertzfeldt will be among short films during the opening show at 7 p.m. Friday, and ``Seraglio'' by Gail Lerner and Colin Campbell will be among those in the closing show of short films at 7 p.m. Sunday. Both were Academy Awards nominees this year.

General-admission festival tickets cost $7 for each of the seven weekend shows or $25 for a pass to all of them and the opening-night reception. Students and faculty members can get a reduced price of $5 per show or $20 for a weekend pass.

The event is sponsored by Antelope Valley College, Cinemark Theatres and the Desert Inn.
