The Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), based in New York City, is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. The organization has more than 30,000 professional and student members, and is organized into 112 chapters nationwide.  is dedicating its 32nd Annual Pepperpot Award for 2000 in memory of two of its members, Frank Long and Deanne White, who died this year.

 Pepperpot Awards Committee, announced that a portion of the proceeds from this year's event will be contributed to a scholarship fund established by Ms. White's family. The scholarship will be awarded to a college student majoring in public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most .

The Pepperpot Award is presented to public relations practitioners from the Greater Philadelphia area for excellence in 21 categories including community relations 1. The relationship between military and civilian communities.

The Maxine Elkin Award recognizes exemplary leadership, professionalism and integrity in public relations, and the Anthony J. Fulginiti Award recognizes excellence in public relations education.

"We feel that dedicating this year's Pepperpot Awards is a fitting way to honor the memory of Frank, who was a longtime and highly respected member of the Chapter, and Deanne, who was one our younger members and who was well-liked by all who knew her," Brown stated.

In addition, the 32-year-old "Pepperpot" is getting a new look. Brown said that The Star Group in Cherry Hill, NJ has contributed its services to the Chapter by designing a permanent logo for the award. The Star Group specializes in advertising, marketing, public relations and interactive communications.

The Philadelphia Chapter of PRSA will hold its 2000 Pepperpot and Achievement Awards banquet on December 7 at the Loews Philadelphia hotel in Center City. For ticket information call 215-295-0729.
