During the evening, a video was shown of some of the early meetings, events, and members. At the dinner, the EPPA Distinguished Achievement Award was given to Murray Lender, founder of Lender's Bagels Lender's Bagel Bakery started when Harry Lender immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1927. The business took off, centered in New Haven, Connecticut, and in 1965 the company was the first company to sell frozen bagels, making it the second most purchased frozen food in , and a very popular personality to all involved in the food industry. An introduction and a brief history and biography of Mr. Lender was narrated by Stanley Futoran, Winter Dinner Chairman. A video was shown of some of Mr. Lender's activities, commercials and events that highlighted his career in the industry. The Distinguished Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Lender by Nick Barese, Awards Committee Chairman. An elaborate cocktail cocktail, short mixed drink originating in the United States and served as an appetizer. It generally has a basis of gin, whisky, rum, or brandy combined with vermouth or fruit juices and often flavored with bitters or grenadine. and hors d'oeuvres hour was followed by a gourmet dinner and dancing. The black tie affair was a marked success and proved to be a very enjoyable evening for all attendees. Over 300 guests showed their enthusiasm for the event with good wishes to the LPPA LPPA Longhorn Pre-Pharmacy Association LPPA Link Proportional Power Allocation LPPA Louisiana Pulp and Paper Association on its 30th anniversary and to Murray Lender for his Distinguished Achievement Award. |
