"Not only did the HDD industry bounce back strongly in 2003, but the demand environment will be exceptional through 2007," stated John Donovan, Vice President of TrendFOCUS. "The PC and server business picked up in the second half of 2003, and will remain solid through 2004. However, the excitement around usage of HDDs in consumer electronics has created an industry buzz not seen in years.

"2004 revenue will rise, and unit shipments should approach 300 million," added Donovan. "PC sales will grow again this year, and CE demand for hard drives will increase 70%. Longer-term, there are no competitive threats to the HDD, so burgeoning demand from the CE market underpins our positive market outlook."
