There was a confrontation, and the men beat the victim in the head with the stick and took his money, which may have been as much as $20,000, police said.

The victim told officers that he carried the cash in case he ever got arrested and needed to post bail, Sgt. Rick Putnam said. The man had a gash on his head that was bleeding profusely pro·fuse

The victim told police that he had never met his assailants. He refused medical treatment for his injuries.
