Police set up a perimeter around the house shortly after 7 a.m., but didn't know if the three robbers were still inside, Alejandre said. About 30 minutes later, an officer saw a woman matching the description of one of the suspects, Alejandre said. She was walking near a convenience store at the corner of Willamette Street and 33rd Avenue. Officers stopped her and found two men armed with a handgun and rifle hiding in nearby bushes, Alejandre said. The 35-year-old victim had met one of the men before, but wasn't friends with him, she said. Police recovered the victim's coat, his credit cards, a handful of trading cards and some DVDs taken from his house. Jeremiah Trevor Baldwin of Eugene, Richard Merritt Harrell, a transient, and Tracy Michelle Hassett of Creswell were taken to the Lane County Jail and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery. Hassett also was charged with second-degree trespassing and possession of illegal drugs. The two men also were charged with first-degree kidnapping kidnapping, in law, the taking away of a person by force, threat, or deceit, with intent to cause him to be detained against his will.
