3 dead in Sardinia train crashTwo trains collided head-on early Friday on the island of Sardinia, killing a 27-year-old British woman and two Italians, police said. Seven people also were injured when the freight train and the passenger train collided near Nuoro, in the central part of the island, local police official Fabrizio Mustaro said. The crashed occurred on a single-track section of the line, he said. One of the trains should have stopped at a nearby station and it was not clear why it did not. Police said the British woman was a tourist, and that a Canadian man traveling with her was slightly injured. The other victims were a 52-year-old local commuter and the driver of one the trains. The conditions of the injured were not immediately known.
