3 communities seen as safe from recession.


Amid economic turbulence turbulence, state of violent or agitated behavior in a fluid. Turbulent behavior is characteristic of systems of large numbers of particles, and its unpredictability and randomness has long thwarted attempts to fully understand it, even with such powerful tools as  sweeping the world, Forbes Forbes   , B(ertie) C(harles) 1880-1954.

 magazine is calling three New Hampshire New Hampshire, one of the New England states of the NE United States. It is bordered by Massachusetts (S), Vermont, with the Connecticut R. forming the boundary (W), the Canadian province of Quebec (NW), and Maine and a short strip of the Atlantic Ocean (E).  communities among the least vulnerable to recession in the country.

 among the Top 10 communities that are safest from recession. The magazine looked at a number of criteria to determine the economic health and stability of the areas.

The Forbes survey included a look at "micropolitan" areas, places with populations between 10,000 and 50,000.

The magazine said it used August unemployment figures and 2007 Census data on median income, poverty, education levels and outstanding mortgage debt to measure the economic resilience resilience (r·zilˑ·yens),
n
 of the communities.

Also among the top 10 were Seaford, Del., and Helena, Mont.

Keene ranked third on the list, behind Lebanon and Key West, Fla. The magazine said it has a vibrant and diverse retail atmosphere that is fueled in large part by two local colleges. Concord ranked seventh.

The towns on the Forbes list that were ranked "most vulnerable" to recession were Lancaster, S.C., Palantka, Fla., and Shelby, N.C.
