3 chicks for first ospreys in 200 years; WILDLIFE.


THE first pair of ospreys to nest in a remote part of the country for more than 200 years have had three chicks.

Ospreys were wiped out two centuries ago in the county, and are only found elsewhere in Rutland and the Lake District. It is thought the Northumberland pair are part of a Scottish population, where numbers have risen.
