3 brownfields grants awarded.Three $200,000 grants have been awarded to help fund brownfields cleanup projects in various parts of the state. The Department of Environmental Services' New Hampshire New Hampshire, one of the New England states of the NE United States. It is bordered by Massachusetts (S), Vermont, with the Connecticut R. forming the boundary (W), the Canadian province of Quebec (NW), and Maine and a short strip of the Atlantic Ocean (E). Brownfields Program presented the grants to: * Tri-County Community Action Program Inc., in association with the Northern Forest Heritage Park, to address PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl. PCB in full polychlorinated biphenyl Any of a class of highly stable organic compounds prepared by the reaction of chlorine with biphenyl, a two-ring compound. , lead and mercury contamination at the former Brown Company Research and Development Building located at 912 Main St. in Berlin. * The city of Lebanon to address petroleum contamination at the former Tidewater tidewater, in U.S. history, that part of the Atlantic coastal plain between the shoreline and the farthest upstream points in rivers reached by oceanic tides. In many cases the fall line is given as the western boundary. Oil site--a portion of the former Westboro rail yard. * The city of Nashua to address petroleum contamination at the former Nashua Manufacturing Company The Nashua Manufacturing Company was a cotton textile manufacturer in Nashua, New Hampshire that operated from 1823 to 1945. It was one of several textile companies that helped create Nashua, one of several cities that blossomed along the Merrimack River to take advantage boiler house site at 90 Pine St. Extension in Nashua. |
