3 Tenn. jail escapees back behind bars

Three inmates who overpowered a guard and escaped from a Tennessee jail are back behind bars.

Officials say 23-year-old Mark Allen Capanyola, 34-year-old James L. Reed and 29-year-old Joshua Lynn Parker escaped from the Cocke County Jail Sunday night.

Authorities say the inmates called the guard to their cell Sunday night and asked for a mop and bucket to clean the floor. When the guard reached the door, they allegedly knocked him to the ground, stole his keys and fled.

Officials say the guard had several cuts and bruises. He was taken to a hospital and released.

Authorities picked them up separately — still in Newport, not far from the jail.

Police say Parker was convicted of second-degree homicide. He is also a registered sex offender.
