LANCASTER - Three Lancaster men suspected of robbing a feed store and shooting at one of the owners were ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges of attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill.  and robbery.

Sheriff's detectives said store owner Armitta Granicy was shot at by one of the robbers when she came out of the Granicy Valley Wide Feed Store after the robbery occurred, but was not hit. Hickman was the gunman, deputies said.

The three men were ordered to stand trial after a two-day preliminary hearing that concluded Wednesday. The three have pleaded not guilty and were each being held in lieu of Instead of; in place of; in substitution of. It does not mean in addition to.  $1 million bail.

The three defendants were arrested after they led deputies on a brief chase, then jumped out of their car and ran into the neighborhood near 17th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard.

Simpson was arrested after coming out of a house, and the other two were taken into custody about two hours later when they were found hiding in two garbage garbage: see solid waste.  cans at another house, deputies said.
