SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Junior Chamber of Commerce -- the Jaycees -- presented a three-day leadership development and training seminar recently.

Held in conjunction with the Junior Chamber International, the Prime Training Program offered intense training focused on developing leadership skills and enhancing the leaders' ability to train others.

 Jaycees participated in the program that was presented by Suzette Plaisted from North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean (E), South Carolina and Georgia (S), Tennessee (W), and Virginia (N). Facts and Figures

Kristin Hampton, vice president of individual development and training for the local chapter, was the driving force behind bringing this first session in more than three years to California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). .

``This was the most significant training I have ever had the privilege of participating in,'' local chapter President Jenny Ketchepaw said.

``It was important for our chapter to bring this to the state of California. The members of our chapter, as well as the local community participants, garnered so much knowledge, insight and inspiration that this will be a weekend that we will remember for a long time to come.''
