3 Americans identified in Honduras crashThree Americans killed when a truck filled with charity workers overturned in Honduras were from a Georgia-based outreach program that helps build homes and bring water to poor Honduran villages, the mission's organizer said Wednesday. Ten others injured in the wreck were airlifted by the U.S. Army to a Honduran hospital and treated for head injuries and broken bones after the accident Tuesday, Honduras Outreach Inc. said. Chairman Jerry Eickhoff said the group was devastated. "Members of these mission teams are here because they are dedicated to serving others," he said. Honduras Outreach sends about 1,100 people a year on short-term trips to bring fresh water to villages, build chimneys and concrete floors in Honduran homes and construct latrines. On Tuesday, 28 adults from four churches were riding through rugged terrain when the truck flipped, said Honduran police spokesman Jose Andino. Honduras Outreach Inc. identified the dead as Perry Goad, 45; Richard Dupree Mason Jr., 58; and Martha Aline Fuller, 66. The deaths were confirmed by the deputy consulate at the U.S Embassy in Honduras, the organization said. Goad and Mason were from a Baptist church in Cartersville, and Fuller was from a Methodist church in Newnan, Ga., the organization said in a statement. All three had previously been to Honduras on short-term trips. ___ On the Net: http://www.hoi.org
