3 ARRESTED IN MARKET ROBBERY ATTEMPT.

PALMDALE - Two men and a 16-year-old boy were arrested Wednesday as suspects in an attempted robbery at a Palmdale supermarket.

Two males entered the Stater Bros. supermarket on 47th Street and Avenue S in Palmdale, approached the manager and asked to buy a money order, sheriff's Sgt. Russ Hill said.

As the two talked to the manager, one revealed a gun and demanded money, Hill said.

``For some reason during the course of the robbery, they got scared and walked out,'' added Hill, saying the pair fled - without taking anything - in a van with a driver waiting in it. A witness followed the two out and called deputies with descriptions.

Soon after the robbery, deputies said they spotted two people running through the back yard of a house on Sharon Lane near 47th Street East, and they first caught the 16-year-old, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, and then arrested a man identified as Eldridge Alcorn, 22, of Pacoima.

Hours later, deputies converged on a neighborhood near the 4700 block of Katrina Avenue to search for the third individual. They arrested Raymond Hester, 20, of Los Angeles, who they said was trying to get into the garage of a house in the neighborhood.

The two men were being held at the Lancaster sheriff's station jail on suspicion of attempted robbery. Deputies said the 16-year-old suffered cuts and bruises while he was fleeing and was treated at Antelope Valley Hospital before being held at Challenger Memorial Youth Detention Center.
