ISLAMABAD, July 11, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Indus River Indus River

Trans-Himalayan river of southern Asia. It is one of the world's longest rivers, with a length of 1,800 mi (2,900 km). Its annual average flow of 272 billion cu yd (207 billion cu m) is twice that of the Nile.

 IRSA, an overall water inflow from various reservoirs recorded was 3,67,052 cusecs. Water level at Tarbela Dam recorded was at 1428.46 feet. The present water level at the dam was 59.46 feet higher than the dead level of 1369 feet. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 1,73,000 cusecs while outflow was 1,45,000 cusecs.The water level at Mangla Dam was recorded at 1168.65 feet which was 128.65 feet higher than the dead level of 1040 feet. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 57,999 cusecs. The contribution of Kabul and Chenab was recorded at 68,000 cusecs and 68,053 cusecs, respectively.
