3,304 Miles of Kodak Moments in Kodak.com's Newest Feature Story; Taken On The Road: American Mile Markers reveals one man's unique photo-documentary.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999--

Matthew Frondorf doesn't always take typical vacations. Instead of packing his bathing suit and flip flops, he loaded his car with Kodak film, a Canon T-90 camera, a cooler and clothes and took off on a bee-line trip from the tip of Manhattan to the Golden Gate Bridge Golden Gate Bridge, across the Golden Gate from San Francisco to Marin Co., W Calif.; built 1933–37. Its overall length is 9,266 ft (2,824 m); its main span across the strait, 4,200 ft (1,280 m), is one of the longest bridges in the world. Joseph B. . At each mile, he snapped a picture of whatever lay ahead of him from the camera mounted on his car. His comprehensive collection of highways, cornfields, Midwest towns and even a herd of Herefords is now an interactive exhibit called Taken On The Road: American Mile Markers on http://www.kodak.com.

Frondorf embarked upon his cross-country journey to record a true picture of America, including the areas that most people often forget - the land that lies in between popular landmarks.

"Throughout my journey, the mile markers (the pictures) serve as a great equalizer, giving the same weight to the trailer house in the desert and Manhattan's World Trade Center; to the homeless person An individual who lacks housing, including one whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility that provides temporary living accommodations; an individual who is a resident in transitional housing; or an individual who has as a primary residence a  in New Jersey and the cowboy cowboy

The feature story uses a QuickTime movie that enables site visitors to see Frondorf's entire trip in sequential order, one picture after the next - just as the creator intended.

"One sees the mainland as a vast continuum, with city streets flowing into farms and prairies prairies, generally level, originally grass-covered and treeless plains of North America, stretching from W Ohio through Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa to the Great Plains region. , parched parch

deserts flowing into forests and mountains. Singly, the photos are just snapshots. Taken collectively, however, one realizes that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts," said Frondorf.

Taken On The Road also presents Frondorf's pictures in the context of a continental U.S. map that highlights his exact route. Visitors can navigate the map using several different resolution options: ranging from the whole country down to the individual images taken in a specific town, on a particular day at an exact time.

All images in the collection are not only viewable from the map and the QuickTime movie, they can also be sent to anyone in the world using e-mail picture postcards. Each e-mailed picture will include the exact location in America where the picture was taken.

"Taken On The Road has presented us with the opportunity to showcase one man's vision of photography the way it should be," said Jonathan Vaughters Jonathan Vaughters (born June 10, 1973 in Denver) is an American former professional racing cyclist and current directeur sportif. Racing career

, marketing director for kodak.com.

Frondorf calls his work "statistical photography," a technique he believes portrays pictures as a collection - when one is taken out of context, it loses much of its meaning.

"We developed the feature story area of kodak.com to showcase both amateur and professional photographers just like Matthew - those who are expressing themselves and doing very personal things with photography," added Vaughters. "We hope that people like Matthew will inspire others to truly Take Pictures. Further.(TM)"
