Population (2001): 1,685,267. accent has come third in a poll of the most seductive voices. The southern Irish accent, spoken by the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Colin Farrell, topped the survey putting Ireland in front as a nation of sexy speakers. The Scottish twang came second in the poll of 3,000 people and the Welsh and southern England voices were fourth and fifth. The study was carried out by the David Ormerod Hearing Centres. A spokesman said: "A person's accent plays an important role in our initial perceptions of them and is an essential part of communication.
