2nd Slate 60 Conference announces lineup.


Organizers last week announced the lineup for the second Slate 60 Conference scheduled for Oct. 21-22 at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock.

Confirmed speakers include former President William J. Clinton; Gov. Eliot Spitzer of New York; Carlos Slim Helu, a businessman and philanthropist from Mexico who recently joined with Clinton on a Latin American anti-poverty initiative; Eli Broad, founder of the Broad Foundation and eight-time Slate 60 honoree; philanthropist Patricia Kluge (jargon) kluge - /klooj/, /kluhj/ (From German "klug" /kloog/ - clever and Scottish "kludge") 1. A Rube Goldberg (or Heath Robinson) device, whether in hardware or software.  of Virginia; Michael J. Fox, the actor and founder of the Michael J. The online magazine Slate held its first-ever Conference on Innovative Philanthropy at the Clinton Presidential Library last November. It was sponsored by Slate, the Clinton Foundation and the University of Arkansas The University of Arkansas strives to be known as a "nationally competitive, student-centered research university serving Arkansas and the world." The school recently completed its "Campaign for the 21st Century," in which the university raised more than $1 billion for the school, used  Clinton School of Public Service The Clinton School of Public Service is a branch of the University of Arkansas System and is the newest of the presidential schools. It is located on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock. . Speakers at the first conference included Clinton, New York Clinton is the name of three different places in New York State:

  • Clinton, Oneida County, New York
 City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, CNN founder Ted Turner and Google co-founder Larry Page.

The event, which convenes America's most generous charitable donors, is tied to Slate's annual list of the top charitable givers.

Moderating the conference panels will be journalists such as George Stephanopoulos of ABC News, Charlie Rose of PBS PBS

This year's conference will focus on current themes in philanthropy including "Philanthropy and the Environment," "Philanthropy and Education," "Rural Philanthropy," "Philanthropy and Health Care," "Philanthropy and the Next Generation" and "Philanthropy in an International Perspective."
