2X Software, a developer of virtual computing software, announced today (12 January) the release of 2X Application Server 6.2 and 2X VirtualDesktopServer (Beta).

The company said that both applications have the unified Two_factor Authentication system The combination of authentication server and authenticator, which may be separate devices or both reside in the same unit such as an access point or network access server. The authentication server contains a database of user names, passwords and policies, and the authenticator physically  provided by security specialists Deepnet Security integrated and are therefore 'ideal' for enterprise users that require secure remote access. To use the system, users must provide both a password and a hardware based authentication token A security device given to authorized users who keep them in their possession. To log into the network, the security "card" or "token" may be read directly like a credit card, or it may display a changing number that is typed in as a password. , such as an appropriately configured USB key or OATH-compliant device.

No details of the cost of the software were given.
