2Roam, a leading global wireless software and service provider, today announced the launch of 2Roam Voice Services, which will enable businesses to integrate voice and data applications into their wireless offerings. 2Roam Voice Services will give wireless users the flexibility to access and retrieve information from wireless applications and Web sites using both voice and text commands. Using Tellme Networks, Inc.'s global voice application network, 2Roam will offer businesses a voice interface for delivering content and information to any wireless device.

According to the new "Telecompetition Worldwide Mobility Report 2001," total worldwide revenues for both voice and mobile data services will exceed $331 billion in 2001 and approach $752 billion in 2010. In the future, as the telecommunications infrastructure is further developed, voice and data integration will enable mobile users to perform "Voice-in/WAP-out" functionality--that is, request or enter information using voice, and retrieve the requested information via text. For example, a sales person could request driving directions to a customer location from a wireless site using voice commands, and the information could be retrieved and saved in text format through a cell phone or PDA.
