BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 2003

2AB, provider of Trusted Solutions for Distributed Business, announces the general availability of webLock(TM) as the newest offering in the iLock(TM) Security Services Security services are state institutions for the provision of intelligence, primarily of a strategic nature, but also including protective security intelligence. Examples include the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in the United Kingdom, and the  product suite. webLock provides a security realm and highly configurable filters and valves for use with standard Web Servers and Servlet containers. It supports authentication of web users and controls access to Web resources (e.g. HTML HTML

Graphical remote administration tools support the development of multi-rule, time-based access policies based on accessids, groups and/or roles. webLock uses the iLock Security Center technology, enabling the customer to take advantage of the dynamic policy update capabilities, high performance caching and sophisticated policy support of this mature core technology.

iLock Security Services products provide the foundation for Enterprise Identity and Access Management in heterogeneous distributed computing environments. The full product suite includes webLock for Web / Web Services environments, jLock for Java / J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems.  environments, and orbLock for CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) A software-based interface from the Object Management Group (OMG) that allows software modules (objects) to communicate with each other no matter where they are located on a private network or the global (R) environments. "Customers have realized that authentication isn't enough and are currently using jLock's application programming interface to build custom access control filters that protect their fine-grain web resources. While this continues to be an option for them, we wanted to offer a configurable product for the web environment that supports both authentication and access control. webLock addresses this need and offers the full benefits of our mature core iLock technology," stated Mitchel Sanders, 2AB's Chief Technology Officer.

The iLock product suite is being demonstrated in the 2AB booth at the RSA Security Conference this week in San Francisco where Bob Burt, the iLock Product Architect, will be presenting on secure interoperability standards. iLock is designed to meet the sophisticated policy requirements for fine-grain access control in applications that have legislated privacy and confidentiality requirement. iLock is offered on a variety of operating system platforms including AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families. , HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.
