28TH INFANTRY DIVISION PREPARES TO 'ROLL-ON' AGAIN! THE MEN OF THE 'BLOODY BUCKET' TO ANSWER A NEW CALL TO ARMS!

WAYNE, Pa., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- July 22, 1944 -- Normandy, France: As dawn breaks across the English Channel, the 28th Infantry Division goes ashore at Omaha Beach and unleashes a relentless, vicious attack on German defenses.
Deftly they penetrate the hedgerow and engage in an immense struggle north and west of St. Lo, and advance slowly but steadily against the powerful German forces.
The 28th tasted victory rather quickly, as they took Percy on Aug. 1, and along with the assistance of the 2nd Armored Division, overran Gathemo on Aug. 10, and later joined in the triumphant victory march into a liberated Paris. These campaigns were to be the first of many costly, yet victorious, battles fought by the mighty 28th, as they made their historic trek through war-torn Europe.
1994 will be the Golden Anniversary of the 28th's arrival in France. It will also mark the 50th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, the beginning of the invasion of Normandy. As part of the forthcoming commemorations celebrating the "beginning of the end" of World War II, veterans and family members of the 28th are planning to retrace their historic footsteps through Europe with a comprehensive, once-in-a-lifetime tour extravaganza.
The vets will make their "friendly invasion" on Europe on Tuesday, May 31, 1994. Arriving in London, they will once again step into history, reliving vivid memories of the past and celebrating the freedom and liberty they fought so hard to achieve for millions of Europeans.
Special stops will be made along the way at such familiar sites as Southampton and Portsmouth, where the troops will once again cross the famous English Channel for Cherbourg and Normandy! The trip will culminate with two full days of commemorations and celebrations at Normandy Beach, where it all began nearly 50 years ago. Visits to Omaha Beach and the National Guard Monument in Vierville-sur-Mer, followed by a mayoral reception and official luncheon, are on the agenda. Plus, an extra-special visit to Utah Beach and the Normandy American Military Cemetery for an emotional tribute and wreath-laying ceremony honoring fallen comrades, is included.
This extraordinary "Re-Invasion" strategy is sure to attract international attention. Indeed, many heads-of-state are already making commitments to take part in the gala festivities. You will want to be a part of it, too! Exceptional plans and arrangements are being made everyday to ensure that this "NEW CALL TO ARMS" will be the most exciting venture ever undertaken in post-World War II military history.
The veterans of the 28th have teamed up with the well-known and respected Galaxy Tours, the "veteran of veterans tours" (with more than three decades of experience returning U.S. veterans to their special places of active duty), to offer guaranteed prices and free comprehensive travel insurance as part of their Golden Anniversary program.
