Luminari Micro introduced 12 members of the Stellaris LM3S6000 Ethernet series and 15 members of the Stellaris LM3S2000 CAN series. According to the company, the new MCUs extend the benefits of the Stellaris family with real-time networking, larger on-chip memories, enhanced power management and expanded I/O capabilities. The LM3S6000 devices combine both the Media Access Control (MAC) and Physical (PHY See physical layer and physical. ) layers, which is reportedly the first time that integrated connectivity is available with an ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, while the Stellaris LM3S2000 series, designed for Controller Area Network (CAN) applications, extends the Stellaris family with Bosch CAN networking technology. The MCUs are based on the ARM Cortex-M3 processor, the microcontroller member of the ARM Cortex processor family. The company also announced the arrival of two evaluation kits. The Stellaris LM3S6965 Ethernet Evaluation Kit features a quickstart application that includes an embedded web server Web server software embedded within a hardware device such as a print server. It is widely used in a myriad of devices, because it allows access to the software via any Web browser, typically for configuring the device or obtaining reports.
