The favorite performers in television, motion pictures and music were announced today for The 26th Annual People's Choice Awards The People's Choice Awards is an awards show recognizing the people and the work of popular culture. The show has been held annually since 1975 and is one of the few to be based on the opinions of the general public. .

The People's Choice Awards are voted by a special nationwide poll conducted by The Gallup Organization, using a representative sampling of more than 210 million Americans who select their favorite actors and actresses, television shows, films and musical performers. No suggestions of entries or nominees are given; pollees can vote for any TV series, film or performer they choose.

Fans will be able to vote online for two categories: Favorite New Comedy Series and Favorite New Drama Series. The voting will begin on Dec. 6, by logging on to www.cbs.com. Voting will continue during the actual live awards show.

Viewers will be able to watch the tabulations on the bottom of their television screens several times during the course of the two-hour show. Votes will be counted up until a few minutes before the winners for those categories are announced.

The People's Choice Awards will be presented for the second year at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Civic Auditorium is a name commonly used for a city's auditorium and/or arena. Canada

Emmy-award winner Louis J. Horvitz will direct.
