26-MILE RACE TO EDGE.

AN off-road race that will really take runners to the edge is being planned for October.

Organisers of the Causeway Coast Marathon hoped to see up to 1,000 adventurers run between Portballintrae and Ballintoy Harbour in North Antrim North Antrim can refer to:
  • The northern part of County Antrim
  • North Antrim (Assembly constituency)
  • North Antrim (Northern Ireland Parliament constituency)
  • North Antrim (UK Parliament constituency)

But as well as some gruelling gru·el·ing also gru·el·ling

Physically or mentally demanding to the point of exhaustion: a grueling campaign.

 climbs along the 26-mile route, competitors are being warned that at some points they will pass within metres of sheer cliffs and a fall of hundreds of feet.

The event's organisers, who last month held their first Mourne Way Marathon, said this one will be even tougher.

See consumer and prosumer.  Rowan McMahon told the Daily Mirror: "Believe it or not there will be steeper climbs with the Causeway run than the Mourne Way.

"There is some incredible scenery. At a few points you'll be around 20 metres from the edge of the cliffs, but we've done risk assessments and we are working with the Coast Guard."
