WHAT: The student-run Knapp Venture Competition provides UCLA Anderson
students with an intensive learning experience in the venture
initiation process. The competition began with 36 student teams
which have been narrowed down to five finalists. Participating
in the Knapp Venture Competition prepares students - whether
they will be founders, financiers, consultants, marketers, or
general managers - for these experiences by simulating the
process of starting and evaluating an entrepreneurial
enterprise. This year's Knapp competition will award more than
$20,000 in prizes. Numerous businesses have been launched over
the years as a result of Knapp entries, including stamps.com and
eFriendsnet. Last year, Knapp winner Auditude licensed its
technology to Premiere Radio Networks, the syndication division
of Clear Channel Communications (and won $135,450 from
additional competitions).

and medium size businesses.

Synergy Therapeutics is an early-stage biotechnology company
that is focused on combining medicines to fight disease in a
novel way.
