In this case it's the August 1979 issue of U.S. CATHOLIC, the highlight of which is most certainly a column by Robert E. Burns titled--brace yourself--"Sex education belongs in the gun store." Yikes yikes interj. Used to express mild fear or surprise. [Origin unknown.] ! Burns argues that America's handgun fascination is largely due to the American male's obsession obsession /ob·ses·sion/ (ob-sesh´un) a persistent unwanted idea or impulse that cannot be eliminated by reasoning.obses´sive ob·ses·sion n. 1. with proving their sexual an excerpt ex·cerpt n. A passage or segment taken from a longer work, such as a literary or musical composition, a document, or a film. tr.v. ex·cerpt·ed, ex·cerpt·ing, ex·cerpts 1. : "'Forget about my sexual hangups,' [they say],'Watch me handle this gun. You'll see how masculine MASCULINE. That which belongs to the male sex. 2. The masculine sometimes includes the feminine, vide an example under the article Man, and see also the articles Gender, Worthiest of blood; Poth. Intr. au titre 16, des Testamens et Donations Testamentaires, n. I am.'" Another top headline from the issue asks, "Is church gambling moral?" The article answers "no." But don't tell that to the cardinals mentioned below. |
