He's not done too badly on the box either, proving he can keep family audiences entertained with the likes of Tiswas, Big Break and Generation Game.

Alas, when the latter's viewing figures slumped to a record low of three million earlier in the year, he decided to call it a day.

``I love the Generation Game but felt it was time to move on,'' he remarked. All of which gives him more time to concentrate on other projects such as an upcoming sitcom and this one-off.

Davidson has always been a very visible supporter of British troops so who better to reflect on the bloody conflict of 20 years ago?

He may have a bad press from sniping critics, but full marks to Davidson for being one of the prime morale-boosters during the 1982 conflict. In this special, he looks at the experiences of both the military and civilian population of the islands 20 years on from the liberation.
