24Seven: WHEN & WHERE: City gets Full Monty.THE film that became the most successful ever British screen comedy is now a successful musical. And that can only mean one thing -- The Full Monty, the big screen version of which starred Robert Carlyle. And after winning top awards as a movie, the story has now gained plaudits as a stage show in the West End and on tour. Liverpool can judge for itself, when the production comes to the Empire Theatre for a fortnight, starting next Tuesday. Remaining true to the spirit of the film, the theatre version follows six out of work men doing whatever it takes to regain their jobs, their families and their dignity. The moral is that when times are tough, every individual is capable of extraordinary things. Even so, it helps if you have real friends you can depend upon. The result is a story about trust and sheer determination, as a group of Sheffield steelworkers seek a new prosperity by becoming exotic male strippers. The cast is led by Tim Rogers, most recently seen at the Empire plahing the mystery figure in the national tour ofAndrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind. Also playing Liverpool will be original West End cast member Sion Lloyd. The Full Monty --- the musical --- has a book by playwright Terence McNally, whose other credits include the musical Ragtime ragtime: see jazz. ragtime U.S. popular music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries distinguished by its heavily syncopated rhythm.
