In the post–World War II era, the Pacific Rim has become an increasingly important and interconnected economic region. to broaden their knowledge, exchange information and foster a spirit of comradeship and understanding among key players in global real estate markets. Delegates also heard from representatives of the World Bank, the U.S. State Department and the Center for International Private Enterprise during the plenary sessions. As the theme indicates, a major portion of the Congress was given over to sessions focused on technology and how it has brought about a truly global real estate industry over the last decade. Congress attendees also had the opportunity to visit some of Northern California's most significant real estate during a series of technical tours. These tours offered a valuer's view of such areas as Silicon Valley, California wine country and AT & T Ballpark as well as area hospitality properties and high-end homes in San Francisco and Marin County. This was the fourth time that the Pan Pacific Congress was held in the United States. The first Pan Pacific Congress took place in Sydney, Australia, in 1959. The next Pan Pacific Congress will be held in Seoul, South Korea, in 2008.
