Freeway project coordinator Marco Ruano said Caltrans is still prepared to meet its ambitious mid-2002 completion date for the $48 million portion of the freeway between La Verne and Interstate 15. ``It's a very aggressive and risky schedule,'' Ruano said. ``We will have to be resourceful.'' Unforeseen problems involving excavation or weather could affect the completion date of the 22-mile stretch, he said. Cities and counties have pushed not only for the rapid completion to minimize inconvenience, but also for the freeway to be opened at once, and not in stages, Ruano said.
