21 HONORED FOR HONESTY, COMMUNITY WORK.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE -- He was a community leader who brought justice to the underserved, and tonight, 21 honorees will be recognized with an award in his name.

Edward L. Masry Edward L. Masry (born July 29,1932 in Paterson, New Jersey, died December 6,2005 in Thousand Oaks, California) was a partner in the law firm of Masry and Vititoe and a city councilman.  -- a distinguished Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  attorney made famous by the movie ``Erin Brockovich'' for his legal work on a water contamination case in Hinkley -- is fondly remembered through the award created a year ago by his three grown children and the Agoura Oak Park Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  Chamber of Commerce.

Last year, the 73-year-old watched a videotape videotape

``We're very proud to have an award named after him,'' said his son, Louis Masry, chamber president. `` ... A lot of residents looked up to him as the people's protector protector /pro·tec·tor/ (-tek´ter) a substance in a catalyst that prolongs the rate of activity in the latter. .''

Those receiving the honor include politicians, police, educators and local business leaders. Some were friends the well-known attorney deeply respected. All are recognized for their work in the community and their honesty, Masry said.

About 200 people are expected at the second annual event, which takes place at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza in Westlake Village. Proceeds support the Diabetes Foundation and the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Sheriff's Orphans and Widows Fund.
