20th Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising and Saban Entertainment launch unprecedented worldwide promotional campaign for ''Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie''.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 1995--Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising and Saban Entertainment Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled due to vandalism.  have assembled one of the most ambitious promotional campaigns in movie history for the highly anticipated ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ("MMPR") is an American live-action television series, created for the American market, based on the sixteenth installment of the Japanese Super Sentai franchise, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. : The Movie.''

A $200-million multimedia campaign, encompassing both national and international promotions with a variety of leading corporate partners, will support the film's theatrical debut in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and Canada on June 30.

Marking the next level for this international multimedia phenomenon, ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' features all the incredible excitement and adventure loved by millions around the world plus exciting never-before-seen surprises, including incredible new Zords, spectacular monsters, mighty Power Ranger suits, state-of-the-art special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques.  and mind-boggling stunts.

National movie promotions have been secured with such industry leaders as McDonald's, 7UP, Kraft Foods Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) is the largest food and beverage company headquartered in North America and the second largest in the world after Nestlé SA.

The Philip Morris Company (now known as Altria Group), a company that produces tobacco products, acquired Kraft for
 Jell-O, Choice Hotels and Discovery Zone. Generating heightened consumer awareness for the film, these promotions are supported by an unprecedented cumulative multi-million dollar print, radio and television advertising campaign.

Steve Ross, senior vice president of worldwide feature film and video promotions for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, who orchestrated the comprehensive promotional campaign, commented: ``We have partnered with some of the industry's foremost brands and companies to assemble a record-breading array of corporate partnerships which are certain to have global impact in support of this highly anticipated movie event.''

Details regarding each of the commercial tie-in promotions planned on behalf of ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' are as follows:

Domestic Promotions ------------------- o McDonald's

In more than 9,500 McDonald's locations nationwide, a multi-tiered promotion has been secured. The promotion includes ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' toys available in Happy Meals for a period of four weeks, coinciding with the movie release.

The massive promotion will be supported by a powerful multi- million dollar television advertising campaign as well as extensive, movie-themed point-of-purchase materials.

o 7UP

On the heels of sponsoring the highly successful ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Live'' tour, 7UP continues its equity in the brand with a multi-level summer promotion based on the film.

Between May 20 and Sept. 9, more than 500 million bottles, cans and multi-pack wraps will feature an on-pack burst with both an undercap and on-pack game piece instant-win opportunity for movie-inspired merchandise.

A second chance to win will be available in a specially designed sweepstakes. When participants send in a proof of purchase with a movie ticket stub A small software routine placed into a program that provides a common function. Stubs are used for a variety of purposes. For example, a stub might be installed in a client machine, and a counterpart installed in a server, where both are required to resolve some protocol, remote procedure , they receive a FREE ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' poster, featuring artwork created exclusively for 7UP.

Backed by extensive national advertising, more than 40,000 grocery, mass merchant and club retail outlets will become headquarters for the promotion.

To provide added incentive for Jell-O Gelatin fans, participating Discovery Zone FunCenters will distribute 10 free game tokens with the purchase of a DZ Power Pass when a customer brings in proof of purchase from any four packages of Jell-O Gelatin.

Encompassing the chains of Comfort, Quality, Econo Lodge Econo Lodge is an economy motel chain based in the United States. Econo Lodge is the second largest brand in the Choice Hotels system. It is one of the best known names of its category and provides affordable rooms to budget travelers. , Clarion, Sleep, Rodeway and Friendship, all 24,000 U.S. hotels will offer ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' 32-page, safety- themed activity books FREE to kids during the company's annual ``Kids Stay Free'' summer promotion.

The ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'' craze began on Aug. 28, 1993, when the live-action television show debuted on The Fox Kids Network in the fall of 1993. Broadcast six days a week in the United States, the ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'' television series garners a wide-appeal 53 percent audience share Monday through Friday for the season to date among kids aged 2-11, according to Nielsen ratings.

This means more than 1 out of every 2 kids watching television in the time period are watching the Power Rangers on FOX, and among boys, the program is averaging a 62 percent share for the season.

The Power Rangers make their big-screen debut in ``Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie,'' to be released on June 30, 1995. Featuring the six high school teens-turned-heroic Power Rangers, the film includes never-before-seen elements, including exciting new Zords, odious monsters, newly designed Power Ranger suits and state-of-the-art special effects and stunts.

One of the film's surprises is unveiled in the form of the Power Rangers' newest and most evil foe -- the ``ultimate evil'' -- Ivan Ooze. With the fate of the entire planet at stake, the Power Rangers fight their biggest and most important battle ever.
