2007 Idea House and Farmstead Presented by The Progressive Farmer.


Visitors are welcome to tour the 2007 Idea House and Farmstead in person and online between June 28 and October 28, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Progressive Farmer today announced the grand opening of its 2007 Idea House and Farmstead in Fredericksburg, Texas Fredericksburg is a city in Gillespie County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,911 at the 2000 census, and 10,432 in the 2005 census estimate. It is the county seat of Gillespie CountyGR6.  on June 28, 2007. Designed with the idea of conservation and preservation of natural elements in mind, this 4,000 square foot home on an eight acre lot evokes all the charm and character of Texas Hill Country inspiring visitors with the best ideas that represent country living. The 2007 Idea House and Farmstead will be prominently featured in the August issue of The Progressive Farmer Magazine. The Progressive Farmer is a division of DTN See disruption-tolerant network and delay-tolerant network. .

This Idea House and Farmstead contains more than 4,000 square feet of living. Special features in this year's Idea House and Farmstead include:

* Casita - A retreat perfect for entertaining friends and family. The casita features a mini kitchen and full bathroom.

* Prairie Restoration Prairie Restoration is an ecologically friendly way to restore some of the prairie land that was lost to industry, farming and commerce. For example, the state of Illinois alone once held over 22 million acres (89,000 km²) of prairie land and now a mere 2,000 acres (8 km²) of  - A winding walking path on the property which includes bird blinds, erosion control Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water erosion in agriculture, land development and construction. This usually involves the creation of some sort of physical barrier, such as vegetation or rock, to absorb some of the energy of the wind or water  efforts and native/natural landscaping.

* Portable Workshop - Because the workshop is the hub of any country place, this one features movable pieces that can easily adapt to fit the owner's needs for any project.

* Outdoor Kitchen - Successfully brings the indoors outside as the space encourages family and friends to enjoy and take life at a slower pace. Popular features include a fireplace as well as patio space.

Visitors are welcome to tour the 2007 Idea House and Farmstead online or in person from June 28 to October 28, 2007. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday between the hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Idea House and Farmstead is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Cost to tour the home is $5 and a portion of the proceeds from admissions will be donated to the Gillespie County Historical Society.

2007 design team members include Architect CGA (Color/Graphics Adapter) The first video display standard for the IBM PC. This low-resolution system was superseded by EGA and then VGA. CGA required a digital RGB Color Display monitor. See PC display modes.
