The population was 8,911 at the 2000 census, and 10,432 in the 2005 census estimate. It is the county seat of Gillespie CountyGR6. on June 28, 2007. Designed with the idea of conservation and preservation of natural elements in mind, this 4,000 square foot home on an eight acre lot evokes all the charm and character of Texas Hill Country inspiring visitors with the best ideas that represent country living. The 2007 Idea House and Farmstead will be prominently featured in the August issue of The Progressive Farmer Magazine. Special features in this year's Idea House and Farmstead include: * Casita - A retreat perfect for entertaining friends and family.
