8 Top-Voted Drum Corps of All Time Will Be Revealed on the Big Screen

DENVER -- It's a well-know fact in certain circles that drum corps enthusiasts are among the most passionate fans on the face of the earth - as crazed as a Green Bay Packers fan during a sleeting December game, as loyal as Canadians to the puck and ice, and as obsessive as a Yankees fan in October. On April 26, 2007, thousands of DCI faithful will once again gather in movie theatres across the U.S. to view their picks for the top eight of the world's greatest competitive drum and bugle corps performances of all time in the 2007 DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL (DCI) CLASSIC COUNTDOWN.

This exclusive event will be presented by National CineMedia's Fathom and Drum Corps International (DCI) in over 230 select AMC, Cinemark, Regal Entertainment Group and Georgia Theatre Company movie theatres nationwide on April 26th at 7:30 p.m. local time. This third annual event promises to be the best yet, featuring an exciting new twist. Fans and corps members past and present were once again charged with the task of determining the finest drum corps performances of all-time and voted in record numbers. Selections were made at www.DCI.org from more than 400 corps performances from 1974-2006 (including those that have been featured in previous versions of the Classic Countdown) and were narrowed down to 35 finalists, and then to eight winning corps in online votes. This year, to keep the suspense building, the eight winning drums corps to be featured in the 2007 DCI CLASSIC COUNTDOWN will not be revealed until they are seen on the big screen!

Drum Corps International broadcaster Steve Rondinaro and DCI Hall of Fame member Michael Cesario will preside over the event, and have been on location filming segments of the 2007 DCI Classic Countdown in Pasadena, CA, host city of the 2007 DCI World Championships. DCI and National CineMedia will again present a live cinema event during the 2007 Drum Corps International World Championship LIVE from Pasadena in select theatres in early August (details will be announced later this season and will be available at www.DCI.org and www.FathomEvents.com). Over the past three years, these special DCI LIVE and Classic Countdown in-theatre events have given nearly 75,000 fans across the country the chance to experience the thunder of the drums and the thrill of the competition in their local cinema.
