2006-2007 goals and objectives: TEI 2007: building on six decades of success member-driven solutions for today, enhanced effectiveness for tomorrow.As the preeminent association of business tax professionals in the world, TEI 1. The Institute's goals and objectives for 2006-2007, built upon TEI's six decades of success, will enhance the organization's effectiveness through a series of dynamic, member-driven initiatives. Advocacy: Strengthening TEI's Solid Foundation by Placing Outreach at Center Stage For more than six decades, TEI and its members have brought their practical perspective and pragmatic solutions to a full range of advocacy matters. Addressing both interpretative issues and important tax-related public policy matters of interest, the Institute has been an effective voice for in-house tax professionals. In the coming year: * TEI's committees and staff will enhance the organization's coverage of and effectiveness on tax, financial accounting, and corporate governance Corporate Governance The relationship between all the stakeholders in a company. Membership & Networking: Building Our Ranks by Connecting Locally and Expanding Globally TEI's overall effectiveness depends on the breadth of its membership, as well as the willingness and ability of its members both to participate in the Institute's activities and programs and to fill key leadership positions. To advance TEI's educational mission, in the coming year: * TEI will refine the operation of the Continuing Education Committee to identify and better meet the evolving needs of in-house tax professionals, as well as to appropriately balance the use of member and staff resources in developing and managing programs. * TEI will explore expansion of the Institute's distance-learning offerings to include online programs to provide in-house tax professionals with expanded learning opportunities and more flexible scheduling. * TEI will institutionalize in·sti·tu·tion·a·lize v. To ensure TEI's future success and enhance its stature as a broad-based, representative organization, in the coming year: * TEI will improve its leadership development process by refining and better communicating requirements and expectations for various leadership positions, including the criteria to be used by the Institute's Nominating Committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization.
