2006 Arthur J. Dixon Award.The AICPA AICPA See American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Tax Division's Tax Executive Committee [TEC) voted to bestow the Arthur J. Dixon Arthur J. Dixon (born: December 1, 1919 - died: February 5, 2007) was a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and a real estate agent. Dixon first got involved in politics running in the 1949 Canadian Federal Election and again in a 1951 by-election for the Award for 2006 on Michael E. Mares, a member of Wilt Mares, PLC in Newport News, VA. In an illustrious career dealing with many areas of taxation, Mr. Mares has served with numerous organizations, including the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council and the American Tax Policy Institute. He is a former member of the AICPA's Beard of Directors and a former TEC chair. Mr. Mares is a contributor to The Tax Adviser and has served on its Editorial Board. He is also known as o prolific speaker and writer. The prestigious prize was created to honor the memory of e CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. known for his outstanding service to the tax profession and the Tax Division.
