William R. Henderson, a Scottish immigrant, and Gus Johnson, both plasterers by trade, founded the company. In 1917, both men joined the Army and were sent to Europe in World War I. Adolph Johnson, a general contractor and friend, looked after the business while they were gone. Upon their return, all the records and profits were turned over to the two, and their business continued and grew. Products were added as territories were expanded to Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo.

The company has between 75 and 250 trained and dedicated employees who use state-of-the-art equipment to meet the challenges of complex and demanding jobs.
