2005 FSA Suppliers Expo Taiwan & Semiconductor Leaders Forum Provides Industry with Enlightening Speeches and Technology Updates.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- FSA, the voice of the global fabless business model, held its second annual FSA Suppliers Expo TAIWAN & Semiconductor Leaders Forum at the Taipei International Convention Center on November 2. The event was co-organized by DigiTimes.

In the opening ceremony, Dr. Ferng-Ching Lin, Minister of State representing The Executive Yuan, congratulated the success of Expo TAIWAN.

"The IC design industry in Taiwan makes up 30% of the world's total volume," said Dr. Lin. "We believe events such as FSA Suppliers Expo will bring tremendous business opportunities to Taiwan and in turn elevate Taiwan's global competitiveness in the semiconductor industry."

The Semiconductor Leaders Forum featured four keynote presentations from semiconductor industry leaders, including:

--Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO, president, and co-founder, NVIDIA -- "Fabless Challenges and Opportunities"

--Nicholas Brathwaite, CTO, Flextronics -- "Consumer Electronics Market Dynamics and Their Impact on the Semiconductor Industry"

--Dr. Aart de Geus, chairman, co-founder & CEO, Synopsys -- "The SOC Puzzle: Not All IP is Created Equal"

-- Dr. Tien Wu, president, Americas/Europe and Worldwide Marketing & Sales, ASE Group -- "The Symbiosis of the Global Supply Chain in a Consumer Market"

Dr. Nicky Lu, chairman and president, Etron Technology, delivered a welcome speech.

"The local Taiwan IC industry supports events held by FSA, and FSA members have greatly contributed to the growth of the APAC IC design market," said Dr. Lu.

The event attracted over 1000 attendees and 50 suppliers showcasing their products and services.
