2005 FEF Conference delivers metalcasting opportunities to students across the country.


More than 330 people (including 101 student delegates) turned out for the 2005 Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF FEF forced expiratory flow.

Held Nov. 10-12 at the Drake Hotel The following hotels are named the Drake Hotel:

, Chicago, the conference brought together top industry executives, FEF board members, FEF Key Professors, university officials and student delegates representing 25 FEF-accredited schools and two FEF-affiliated schools.

A metal-forming process whereby molten metal is poured into a cavity or mold and, when cooled, solidifies and takes on the characteristic shape of the mold.

The conference also featured two award sessions during the annual banquet and the recognition breakfast. FEF's highest honor, the E.J. Walsh Award, was presented to Conner Warren, Citation Corp. (retired). Also, Foundry of the Year honors went to Honda of America Manufacturing, Anna, Ohio Anna is a village in Shelby County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,319 at the 2000 census.

Anna is the location of a Honda Motor Co., Ltd plant that builds the GM L66 engine and Honda J engine.

 Die Casting die casting

Forming metal objects by injecting molten metal under pressure into dies or molds. An early and important use of the technique was in the Linotype machine (1884), but the mass-production automobile assembly line gave die casting its real impetus.
 Assn., Wheeling, Ill., received the Society/ Association of the Year award.

At the Awards and Recognition Breakfast, which featured a presentation from Scott Layman, Kent State Univ., 17 scholarships were awarded to the student delegates.

AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System.
