Since nobody wants to go insane, ACTE reviews the Convention program each year and, with the help of members, makes enhancements and changes to continually ensure that the ACTE Annual Convention and Career Tech Expo is a valuable professional development experience. To that end, this year's Convention offers a number of new and exciting additions. Career Academy Track ACTE has added a two-day career academy track that covers a variety of topics, including how to start a career academy, how to build partnerships, and how to teach students the soft skills they need to get a job. This special track will include an Opening Session keynote address keynote address n. An opening address, as at a political convention, that outlines the issues to be considered. This year, the national awards will be distributed during the Friday General Session. Marketplace To enhance the Exhibit Hall experience, ACTE has offered exhibitors the opportunity to directly sell their wares in a special section of the Hall called the Marketplace. Here, attendees can purchase items and take them home immediately. Hurricane Help ACTE recognizes that career and technical education teachers from the Gulf Coast are suffering in a number of ways since the hurricanes hit. To help them overcome some of the hardship, ACTE will be collecting donations and holding a silent auction. This will take place during the Networking Reception that will take place on Thursday, December 8. Focus 2005 In partnership with Global Skills X-change, ACTE will be offering a track of sessions that addresses the alignment of career and technical education programs with current and future workforce development initiatives at the local, regional and state levels.
