INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Individual Achievement

Awarded to individuals for outstanding performance within the functional fields of comptrollership. New for the 2003-2004 competition year is the category of Business Management.

Team Achievement

Given to teams for outstanding performance; accomplishments; adoption of study results, outcome, or savings; and excellence in military comptrollership. A team is defined as a group of four to twenty members who are tasked with achieving a short-term objective.

Research

Recognizes efforts resulting in a specific, written product that encapsulates the research effort, findings, and recommendations. Awards are given to significant or singularly outstanding reports. The ASMC also recognizes excellence in student research on military comptrollership topics at selected DoD Service Schools. Awardees, not to exceed one per graduating class, are selected through faculty referral.

Corporate Member

Given to a corporate member for outstanding contributions to a chapter or the national organization in furtherance of the goals of the Society.

National President's

Awarded to individuals who have made significantcontributions to the Society and/or the military comptrollership field. Any member or chapter may send a letter of nomination to ASMC National Headquarters.

Essay Contest

Three monetary awards are given for outstanding essays on a specified topic. This year's topic is "What are the three highest hurdles in your organization's race for fiscal fitness, and how would you overcome them? "Winning entries are published in the Armed Forces Comptroller.

Editorial

Presented to the author(s) of the best article(s) published in the Armed Forces Comptroller. The award may be given for significant contributions to planning the editorial content in the magazine.

Scholarship Monetary awards are given to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and academic achievements.

Members' Continuing Education

Grants are provided to members of ASMC to aid in their academic endeavors. Nominees must be entering or in a field of study related to financial/resource management.

Chapter Leadership

This award recognizes chapter leaders for outstanding contributions and support of the Society.

CHAPTER AWARDS

All chapter awards, with the exception of Membership Growth, are determined through the Annual Chapter Program Report. This report form is available on the ASMC website.

Chapter Competition

This program is designed to encourage chapter programming that fulfills the mission of the Society. Each chapter competes in its size category and is awarded points in eleven different fields of programming.

Membership Growth

Three awards are given to chapters that achieve substantial percentage or absolute membership growth. All chapters with membership growth are automatically eligible. In addition, a Recruiter of the Year is chosen in each chapter-size category for recruitment of new members throughout the year.

Five Star

This award is presented to any chapter that sets a standard of effort for well-rounded professional chapter performance. Chapters submit an annual report in April, with various reporting requirements throughout the year in the area of administration.

Neil R. Ginnetti Professional Development This special award will recognize an ASMC chapter in each category size for outstanding, innovative contributions to the professional development of its chapter members and the training needs of the command.

Newsletter

Awards are presented for the chapter newsletters that best foster internal chapter communication and professionalism. Awards are based on content and quality of presentation and given to two chapters per size category.

Professional Development

Recognizes a chapter for outstanding, innovative contributions to the professional development of its chapter members and other personnel.

Community Service

This program recognizes chapters' sustained efforts in service to their communities. Chapters must complete a minimum number of service hours in organizing, implementing, and/or administering a volunteer service program.
