It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges. and is held each year in conjunction with the NCAA NCAA abbr. The NCAA Women's Final Four will be played in the 18,000-seat New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded Sports Arena in 2004. Marsha Sharp Marsha Sharp was the head coach of Texas Tech University's women's basketball team, the Lady Raiders, for 23 years. She retired following the 2005-2006 season.
